Provenance: Directly from the artist's studio, owned by Monette family of Ottawa.
Ralph Wallace Burton (1905-1983) a well known Ottawa Valley artist who was a student of, regular painting companion and friend to A.Y. Jackson. Burton was born in Newington, Ontario and lived for many years in Ottawa. R.W. Burton remained friends with A.Y. Jackson until Jackson’s death in 1974. When A.Y. Jackson suffered a stroke in 1965, he recuperated at Wallace’s Ottawa home. A graphite sketch A.Y. Jackson did of his friend is in the collection of the Ottawa Art Gallery.
