"Often when Astronomers are looking at photo images of dense star fields they will use a negative image. By looking at stars as points of black or grey they are able to physically see more details. I was thinking about this type of reversal when I placed the stars in this plein air painting from Round Lake. I was going to colour the reversal but loved the way it looked so left it raw. The background colour is the woodgrain of the birch I used for this painting. Sidenote: I nearly died sketching this piece as it was pitch dark and I fell badly off the edge of the dock area. just liuck I fell right and only received a nasty scratch."
