Committed to painting from life outside the confines of a studio space. Lisa Baldwin captures moments directly experienced in nature. She travels with her paints into the wilderness in search of details in nature often unseen by others. Rendered carefully with bold strokes of oil paint her images compress a wild subject into its essentials.
These works are conceptually simple, yet intensely complex in their detail. They invite the viewer to hold out their hand and touch the tips of the leaves, flowers and grasses as they walk by.
Lisa Baldwin is an alumni of Saskatchewan's legendary art retreat at Emma Lake and has been exhibited internationally. Her work is in private collections across Canada and in the United States, Belgium and Hungry.
