1959 Ink wash on paper 10 X 13 in. This piece is unframed.
"The 1950s saw the spread of abstraction in Canada, during that time, Gerald Trottier’s style became increasingly non-figurative. Trottier’s broad stroke ink wash works were inspired in part by his experience in Paris in 1953 where he was struck by the power and effect that street graffiti had on him. These ink and wash works do not try to duplicate the Paris graffiti he saw but provoked the strength of symbol and graphic form that struck him at that time." Denise Trottier
