BLUE

Tuesday August 2nd, 2016 to
Sunday September 4th, 2016

Vernissage:

Thu Aug 4th, 2016 — 6:00 pm - 9:30 pm

The colour blue is a constant in every facet of our physical, emotional and material lives.

It is the colour of the ocean, the sky, a lover’s eyes. The Blues could be about how you feel, the music you play or the hockey team you root for.

You could have the Blue Plate Special for dinner, or some Blue Chip stock in a corporation with a pedigree.

The colour blue has also been used for art, adornment and as a dye since ancient times beginning in the 9th century when Chinese artists used cobalt to make fine blue and white porcelain. In the Middle Ages, cobalt blue coloured the stained glass windows of cathedrals.

The ancient Egyptians used the semi-precious stone lapis lazuli for dazzling jewelry and ornamentation. Then, during The Renaissance it was the base for ultramarine, the most expensive of all pigments.
