Edge of the 'Knife Vernissage

Friday April 26th, 2013
6:00 pm - 10:00 pm

In the Cube Salon: A selection of contemporary Yellowknife artists at Cube Gallery, Ottawa. In partnership with the Gallery on 47th Street, Yellowknife.

Edge of  the 'Knife
is a unique opportunity to experience the essence of  Canada's  far north through the eyes of some of it's best emerging artists.    This body of work by northerners who live and work in  Yellowknife -- locally known as the 'Knife -- is breathtaking,  provocative, raw and poignant. It is a visual feast for those who have  been there and for those who have yet to go.

Edge of the 'Knife is also a slice of  the vibrant contemporary visual art scene in the Northwest  Territories  featuring Yellowknife artists
Rae Braden
Landon Peters
Jennifer Walden
Terry Pamplin
Helene Girard
Angus Beaulieu
and Margaret Nazon
The exhibition will be one of the features of this year's Northern Scene, boasting the largest gathering of artists from  Yukon, Nunavut, the Northwest Territories, Nunavik  and Nunatsiavut  ever presented outside of the far north. This is the sixth in a series of national festivals showcasing this country’s finest established and emerging artists presented by the National Arts Centre in Ottawa from April 25 to May 4,  2013.  "Northern Scene will be a virtual Northern Invasion featuring more  than 250 artists from Yukon, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, Nunavik and  Nunatsiavut in performances and exhibitions throughout the nation’s capital,"  says Cube Gallery curator Don Monet. "We are proud to be part of this  celebration of northern musicians, actors, dancers, writers, visual and  media artists, filmmakers, and storytellers."

We are an official stop on the April 26th “Gallery Crawl” from 6pm – 10pm.  15 Northern Art Exhibitions all around town. Free “Swarm Bus” leaving from any gallery you wish to start.
