Free Dark Sky Party and Lectures
7:30 pm: A free lecture by Professor Peter Watson, dept. of physics, Carleton University: "There are More Things in Heaven ...." Twenty years ago we knew of 10 planets in the universe, and we thought we had the solar system pretty much figured out. Now we know of thousands of planets. Join us as we explore the solar system and the discovery of exoplanets.
8:30 pm: A free lecture by Robert Dick of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, and
University of Ottawa:
"Jewels of the Summer Sky"
There are many celestial objects in the evening sky but only a few are visible from a city. This presentation will guide you to the best and brightest, and will explain their significance.

After the sun sets a family friendly "streetwide star party" will be held on Julian Ave. featuring telescopes, videos and star viewing courtesy members of RASC. This evening star party will be held on the first private street in Canada to vote to turn off their streetlights for this night sky event!
