3rd Wall does Oscar Wilde

Wednesday May 9th, 2012
7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The program for the evening includes several of Oscar Wilde’s short stories including the Selfish Giant, whose garden was cloaked in perpetual winter until he allowed the children to enter and play and, The Remarkable Rocket who was so convinced that he would be the brightest, most remarkable rocket of all, yet who ended up in a ditch. Also on the bill: The Sphinx Without A Secret, The Devoted Friend and his most famous The Happy Prince, whose statue stood overlooking his city, who gave the rubies and sapphires embedded in his eyes and clothing to feed the poor; and the tiny swallow who helped him. Wilde’s prose, like his plays, contains all the usual wit but they also contain a lot of charm.  Many of them have a fairy-tale or magical quality that will entertain and delight.

As part of this special evening - one of the readers will be Third Wall board member Henrietta Southam, herself a trained actor. Other performers, include Katie Bunting a member of the Third Wall Resident Acting Company with others TBA.

WILDE’S SHORTS  will take place Wednesday, May 9th at the Cube Gallery - 1285 Wellington Street West. This EMPTY SPACE FINALE will also feature food, a cash bar (available during the performance) and our “Go Loco! Go Local Silent Auction” celebrating all things local.  The doors open at 7pm to start the bidding and the performance starts at 7:30pm
