Barbara Gamble is an award winning artist whose work is influenced by natural history and environmental concerns. From urban to wilderness settings, the Canadian landscape has been her constant subject for many years.
Barbara began her art studies in the 1970's and continued to paint, work and study art until obtaining a BFA and committing to a full time art practice in the 1990's.
Barbara's oil painting process involves the multi-layering of coloured waxes, creating luminous surfaces. Her artwork is held in numerous public, corporate and private collections and is shown in galleries across Canada and the US. Most recently her work was featured in a major solo exhibition at The Canadian Museum of Nature.
Active in her community, Barbara has served in numerous volunteer positions in the cultural sector. These have included positions on the board of directors of The Ottawa Art Gallery, the board of CARFAC National and the board of The Enriched Bread Artists Studios. For these and broader community service commitments, Barbara was a recipient of the YWCA's Woman of Distinction Award for Arts Culture and Heritage.
