Cube is the brainchild of Ottawa artist and curator Don Monet, and his partner, writer Becky Rynor. After ten years as a government communications officer, Don saw an empty building for rent. With Becky's support they grabbed the opportunity to open Cube Gallery. Now in its eleventh year of operation, Cube was one of the first galleries to open in an area which now boasts half a dozen fine art spaces. Cube is proud to be a part of the new renaissance of world class art that Ottawa is becoming renowned for. Cube represents local, national and international contemporary artists.
Cube is located between Ottawas famous Bagel Shop and the Great Canadian Theatre company (GCTC), and convenient to many fine restaurants, bars and boutiques. Cube is also available to rent as a venue boasting 2600 square feet of space with a 12 foot ceiling in the main room and a generous salon/bar area. "This is the kind of gallery that gives you room to really stand back and look at the art," Monet says. "It also allows Cube the flexibility to showcase substantial works of art -- everything from 10 ft. sculptures to 20 ft. paintings.
Cube also hosts a broad range of cultural events including award-winning plays, live dance performances, jazz and piano concerts. This is a great venue for a party, private and public lectures, book launches, weddings, receptions and intimate dinner parties. Cube is a dynamic and welcoming art space that changes every month. We are also baby carriage and wheelchair friendly.
